In a world where many holocaust survivors are now already passed, or in their late eighties and nineties it is exceedingly rare to find a survivor who was imprisoned and impacted by the war at such a young age, he is still only recently a senior citizen and still has a survivor story to tell. Mr. Friedman gives us a glimpse not only into another devastating experience, other than the concentration camps, that millions of Jews and others experienced. He also gives us a glimpse into the healing and recovery and the rejoicing that comes from living through such terror, and then immigrating to America, and building a new life for himself full of friendship, love, and lasting connections. In a world that seems just a bit crazy at times, it is comforting to be reminded of the resiliency of the human spirit and the lasting impact of love.
